We should stop converting dollar salaries to rupees and gloating over them. One way is to look at purchasing power parity because like the salaries, the cost of services is also high.Simple dental check-ups cost $200 i.e. Rs.9,000/- and a root canal could cost anywhere between $1500 to $2000 i.e. Rs.67,500 to Rs.90,000 and this is not normally covered by insurance.And almost everyone abroad feels that Indian doctors are far better because they handle more cases and are therefore more experienced and have better expertise. So next time somebody talks of a $100,000 salary, find out what it would cost to have a haircut there!Or a maid servant!!
